Hardtwein jewelry is built to last. Our pieces are crafted from durable 14- or 18-karat gold, resistant to tarnishing and discoloration over time, making them perfect for everyday wear. However, to ensure that your jewelry lasts a lifetime, we recommend that you handle it with care.

To protect your ring from scratches and damage, store it in a soft, velvet-lined box and keep it separate from other pieces. We also advise you to remove your jewelry before going to sleep, doing dishes, exercising, gardening, lifting heavy objects, or engaging in any other activities that could cause bending, dulling, or loss of your jewelry. While you can keep your ring on when washing or sanitizing your hands, we recommend avoiding contact with chlorine, perfumes, hairspray, body lotions, cleaners, and other chemical-containing products, as they can dull or scratch the gold.

We recommmend to clean your ring on a regular basis at home and to have it professionally cleaned once a year.

Home cleaning

To clean your Hardtwein jewelry at home, we recommend soaking it in warm water with a mild dish soap for 10 minutes. Use a soft toothbrush to gently scrub areas that are hard to reach. Rinse off the jewelry with water and allow it to air dry for the best results.

This method is perfect for routine cleaning of all your Hardtwein jewelry, whether it’s moissanite or diamond.

Oil slick

Moissanites are known for their brilliant sparkle, but over time, they can collect oils and dirt, which may create a film known as an “oil slick.” The oil slick appears as a rainbow-like stain, similar to the iridescence of gasoline on water. It's caused by contact with chemicals, lotions, oils, or simply daily build-up.

This oily layer can dull the stone’s shine, but there’s no need to worry—it’s easy to clean at home. We recommend using Wright’s Silver Cream along with a jewelry polishing cloth for the best results. Simply put a small amount of Wright's Silver Cream on the polishing cloth and wipe it across your stone until you see the oil slick disappear.

If you see the oil slick returning frequently, you might want to consider to take off your jewelry whenever you apply lotion, hair cream, sanitizer, etc.
